Natalia has more than 9 years’ experience working as a lawyer. Natalia has a wide range of experience working in the following areas:

  • corporate and commercial law;
  • mergers and acquisitions;
  • assisting with investments;
  • representing clients in court and at tribunal;
  • insolvency; and
  • intellectual property.


Since 2015, Natalia heads the Private Wealth Practice that provides services to private clients and high net-worth individuals. Natalia’s experience in advising organisations on their legal matters helps her to quickly identify problems and available options for private clients, the majority of who are business owners or top managers in Russia or overseas.


1. Advising clients on commercial and corporate matters (including international matters) on the establishment of joint ventures with foreign capital as well as representing the interests of clients in disputes and in insolvency proceedings.

Example projects:

  • Providing legal assistance to companies entering the Russian market, including British architectural studio Bryden Wood Ltd, the well-known company HKR Architects, the SKB Industrial Holding Company – one of Europe’s leading suppliers of high-quality protective cables, the Ludan Group – one of the largest developers of integrated industrial solutions in planning, control of technological processes and energy, and several other major companies.
  • Representing the interests of clients in several important processes relating to the insolvency of Phaeton-Aero (the largest fuel company in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region) and the insolvency of Nevsky Bereg Limited Company.
  • Assisting with due diligence for Renord-Invest, a major investment group, in its acquisition of shares in the Module Group of Companies.
  • Representing the interests of one of the largest retail banks in Russia, Trust, in a number of court disputes related to the issuing of securities under the legislation of a foreign country.
  • Providing legal assistance to PANSE, the world’s largest supplier of domestic printing materials and equipment, in a commercial dispute with a French company. The dispute related to an international contract of sale and the performance by the French party of its obligations under the contract that had been heard in a French court.
  • On a pro bono basis, representing the interests of the Philharmonia in a intellectual property dispute with the Russian Authors Society.

2. Assisting private clients as part of the Private Wealth Practice, the current focus of which has been succession planning and tax and currency control matters.

Example projects:

  • Succession planning for a private client and business owner (including structuring family assets for the purpose of inheritance, assisting with transaction involving personal assets for the purpose of succession planning, analysing legal documentation of companies owned by the client).
  • Together with foreign partners, advised a private client and a leading business in agritourism and property in a variety of jurisdictions on matters of international tax planning. Specialists from Maxima Legal, coordinated by Natalia, developed a structure of ownership of the assets (property, financial assets, among others) for the purpose of tax optimisation taking into account the interests of the client, his children and legislative requirements of Russia, Austria, Romania, Malta and the UK.
  • Advising a Russian resident on a wide range of currency control and tax matters relating to the client holding overseas bank accounts. Over the past year we have assisted the client to ensure that documentation complies with the requirements of tax and currency control legislation and to restructure their assets following Russia become a signatory to the international agreement on the Automatic Exchange of Information and the intention of authorities to begin exchanging financial information in 2018.
  • Together with partners in the British Virgin Islands, advising a private client on the procedure of inheriting shares in a company registered in the BVI, including when the client is the sole beneficiary of the company.
  • On a pro bono basis, represented the interests of the well-known Russian rock group DDT in court in its landmark dispute with the Governor of Bryansk Region.
