Dmitry Uryakin has evaluated legislation that will come into force in September 2019 for Pravo.ru

In September 2019 provisions will be introduced to the Code of Civil Procedure and the Constitutional Court that will determine the status and rules that apply to assistant judges, as well as allow assistant judges to draft judicial acts.

“Apparently the changes are aimed at reducing the excessive burden on judges. Although it seems doubtful that the burden on judges can be reduced in this way”, commented Pravo.ru Associate at Maxima Legal, Dmitry Uryakin. In his opinion, the legislator decided to unify the rules that set the status of an assistant judge in different procedural forms. “A specific list of other procedural actions that assistants can perform, in addition to keeping minutes, recording the course of the court session and assisting in the preparation of draft judicial acts, is still not available”, explained Dmitry.
