Coronavirus has brought significant changes to the Russian legal market. In particular, the institution of force majeure changed its relevance, the moratorium on bankruptcy was introduced to support businesses, courts supported the transformation trend and began to switch to electronic document management and mass use of video conferencing more actively. In addition, as Maxim Ali, Senior Associate at Maxima Legal, told the Delovoy Peterburg newspaper COVID-19 also had an impact on corporate law.

“On the one hand, a number of M&A projects and a number of foreign companies entering the Russian market has decreased. On the other hand, a number of investors took advantage of the moment to acquire depreciated assets, which implies participation of lawyers in such projects, for example, in due diligence,” Maxim Ali commented.
