The Medical Investment Group plans to close its outpatient clinics in the Novgorod Region, which operate on the basis of a public-private partnership. According to the company, the closure is necessary following disputes with the regional government.

Partner, Head of PPP Practice at Maxima Legal, Natalia Diatlova, explained to RBC Petersburg that there are few examples of successful PPP projects in the healthcare sector. “It is difficult for the state to guarantee the demand of patients that may come under the compulsory medical insurance system. Often, the absence of an investment element in the compulsory medical insurance tariff does not allow for the return on projects for a private investor”, Natalia said.
