Officers from the Federal Security Service and the Tax Inspectorate for large taxpayers carried out an audit of the activities of company LLC GPK Land, which is in the process of being liquidated. According to Fontanka.ru, the audit is related to alleged underpayment of taxes in the amount of about 600 million roubles.

“According to media reports, the audit has not yet been completed, the tax arrears have not been finalised and submitted. Perhaps the owners of the company would like to liquidate the company before start or end the tax audit”, commented Sergei Bakeshin, Head of the Dispute Resolution and Insolvency Practice at Maxima Legal, to RBC Petersburg. Sergey also noted that before the liquidation process began, the company changed its place of registration from St. Petersburg to the Leningrad region. The reason for companies to “move” can sometimes be to avoid claims by moving to another tax authority, which does not even have claims against the taxpayer, Sergei Bakeshin explained.
