Delovoy Peterburg has included lawyers from Maxima Legal as leaders of the season for Summer 2018

Partner at Maxima Legal, Natalia Diatlova, and Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice, Sergey Bakeshin, have been included in the rating ‘Lawyer of the Season – Summer 2018’ which is presented by business newspaper Delovoy Peterburg.

Natalia Diatlova headed the list in the nomination for transactions with her work in the sale of a Russian business Meratech, which specialises in the development and production of cleaning chemicals used in the agricultural and food industry, to the Belgian holding company CID LINES. Under the terms of the sale the purchaser will continue to use the Meratech brand and will promote its products in the European, Middle East and Central Asian markets.

“For CID LINES, a leader in the production of goods for cleaning and disinfecting in Europe, it is the company’s first transaction in Russia which shows that foreign business continues to enter the domestic market. The deal was conducted over the course of the year with lawyers from three jurisdictions (England and Wales, Belgium and Russia) working on it, complicated agreements were entered into that were regulated by foreign law, including those that allowed the seller to be included in the structure of the holding as a shareholder, which is not typical for such transactions”, commented Natalia.

Sergey Bakeshin was included in the top three lawyers for the nomination of ‘Disputes’, for his work in reducing by three times the taxes, penalties and fines (by around 700 million roubles) that the tax authorities ought to claim from a client.
