On 11-14 November, the Council of Lawyers and the Law Society of England and Wales together with the Russian Federal Chamber of Lawyers, the Moscow Chamber of Lawyers, the St Petersburg Chamber of Lawyers, the Anglo-Russian Law Association and the British Russian Law Association organised the fifth English Law Week in Russia.

As part of the St Petersburg programme, Natalia Diatlova, Partner, Head of the Maxima Legal International Projects group, moderated a discussion on trends in personal and corporate structuring. In particular, the discussion touched upon the development of case law in England and its impact on international mergers and acquisitions, the application of tax, anti-corruption and antitrust laws, changes in offshore zones, including compliance with the requirement of economic presence and other issues.

Traditionally, English Law Week is held in Moscow and St Petersburg. The conference alternates with Russian Law Week in London, annually bringing together leading legal experts from Russia and the UK and providing a platform for establishing and expanding relations between lawyers of the two countries.
