Maxim Avrashkov - Managing Partner Sergei Bakeshin - Counsel

On 24 October the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) presented its Doing Business annual report which assesses the ease of doing business in 190 countries. The report is traditionally based on an analysis of national regulations that promote or impede the development of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as a large-scale survey of entrepreneurs, specialists in the financial sector and the legal services market. In 2019, the number of Russian experts interviewed by the World Bank included Maxima Legal Managing Partner, Maxim Avrashkov, and Head of Dispute Resolution and Insolvency Practice, Sergei Bakeshin.

Note that in 2019, Russia rose in the Doing Business rating by three points, taking 28th place. According to the report’s publishers, measures to accelerate the generation of electricity, simplify compliance with tax requirements, and also strengthen protection of the rights of minority investors, by tightening corporate transparency, have contributed to the country’s progress.
