Nikita Deynega joined the jury of the “Tax Live” Russian Taxation Study Competition

On 27th of November, the winner of the annual Russian Taxation Study Competition, organised by the “Tax Live. Law Live” team was announced. In 2021, 61 submissions were received from teams representing 25 universities and branches from 14 cities. The competition was won by the team from the Higher School of Economics (St. Petersburg).

Nikita Deynega, Head of Tax and Administrative Law Practice at Maxima Legal, was a member of the jury for the fourth time. Together with his colleagues from Pepeliaev Group, Taxology, Crowe CRS, Five Stones Consulting and BGP Litigation, the expert selected the winner of the semi-final, in which the joint team of the Higher School of Economics (Moscow) and Lomonosov Moscow State University met with their opponents from Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management. In addition, Nikita on behalf of Maxima Legal awarded one of the players of the final game with a special prize, a trip to St. Petersburg, for significantly improving the team’s position over a short period of time from the semi-final round to the final.

The Russian Tax Live Competition has been running since 2016 and includes preliminaries, written positions and oral arguments in a moot court format in an imaginary dispute between a taxpayer and a tax authority. The participants of the competition are teamed undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students who may be assisted by consultants (teachers and legal practitioners). Jury members include recognised tax specialists, including renowned arbitration judges.
