News Highlights: IP&IT Novelties In Russia Of 2019 // JD Supra — January 2020

At the request of the International Lawyers Network, Darina Lysachkina, Junior Lawyer of Intellectual Property and Information Law Practice of Maxima Legal, has prepared for JD Supra a review of the most significant IP / IT events that occurred in Russia in 2019.

In particular, Darina wrote about the emergence of a new object in the intellectual property right – a geographical indication, and also commented on the key provisions of a Decree of the Supreme Court which contains a summary of law enforcement practice over the past 10 years and recommendations for lower courts in resolving IP disputes.

In addition, the lawyer drew attention to changes in the regulations in the sphere of information technology: expanding the list of civil rights by adding digital rights, repeatedly increasing fines for non-compliance with the requirement to localise personal data and introducing the obligation to pre-install Russian software on smartphones, computers and Smart TVs.

JD Supra is a daily online publication covering corporate and private law in various jurisdictions.
