Dmitry Uryakin has commented for Mashnews on the prospects of realising the pledged property of the Gatchina Feed Milling Plant at auction
The production facilities, equipment and land plots of the Gatchina Feed Milling Plant are being tried in a court by the Moscow-based company SBC Grand. It bought RUB 1.7 bn of the plant’s debts to Sberbank for a quarter of the face value and now insists on the recovery of the property that the plant pledged as collateral for loans. In February 2025, the Thirteenth Commercial Court of Appeal confirmed that SBC Grand’s claims are legitimate, and if the Gatchina Feed Milling Plant does not appeal the decision, its property will be sold at public auction.
As Dmitry Uryakin, Senior Associate at Maxima Legal, explained to Mashnews, regional authorities cannot legally prohibit the sale of pledged property at auction, it is not their competence, and if the auction is held, but there will be no one willing to buy the property, SBC Grand will be able to keep it.
