A research conducted by Delovoy Peterburg newspaper showed that, local lawyers expect that in the second half of the year business will most often turn to them on issues related to the application of sanctions and anti-sanctions legislation.

Sanctions imposed by foreign countries, as well as countermeasures to support domestic businesses, not only remain in force, but are further developed. “Although the dynamics of changes have slowed down, the volume of regulation remains significant, and its quality and consistency are not always up to par,” Nikita Deynega, Partner, Head of Tax & Administrative Law Practice at Maxima Legal, explained to Delovy Peterburg newspaper. – Therefore, the demand for consultations on these issues will remain high”.

Sanctions consulting mainly includes verification of business operations for their permissibility, support in obtaining permits (individual exemptions) from authorised bodies in Russia and abroad (for example, unblocking of frozen assets). In addition, as noted by Nikita Deynega, in the near future the practice of applying sanctions and anti-sanctions regulation will begin to be more actively formed both at the administrative and judicial levels.
