Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, Music Hall theatre and a other cultural organisations in St Petersburg initiated litigation against Sofit ticket aggregator. Contracts had been concluded between the plaintiffs and the defendant under which Sofit was obliged to transfer money for the tickets sold, but failed to do so or did not transfer the money in full. In 2022 the aggregator was a defendant in 71 cases, the total amount of claims against it was 29 million rubles.

Sergei Bakeshin, Senior Associate and Head of Dispute Resolution & Bankruptcy practice at Maxima Legal, explained to Delovoy Peterburg newspaper that the creditors might not have applied to the bailiff service because of the moratorium on bankruptcy.

“From the 1st of April there was a moratorium on bankruptcy which not only prevented creditors from filing bankruptcy petitions of debtors. Its effect was also to suspend enforcement proceedings on monetary claims that had arisen before the moratorium was introduced. If the debts had been accumulated before April, the creditors could not enforce their claims against Sofit before October 1,” said the expert.
