Maxima Legal’s Head of Intellectual Property and Information Law Practice Maxim Ali joined the pool of experts of Techstars Startup Weekend’s IT start-ups hackathon. Over the past few years, the event has earned a reputation as a key global platform for creating the most successful projects in the field of information technology and was held for the first time in St Petersburg in May 2019.

Techstars Startup Weekend traditionally takes place with the support of Google Entrepreneurs and is aimed at giving developers, designers and creative entrepreneurs the opportunity to build close relationships with local companies and businessmen of international level, who already have their own success stories. For three days, international mentors give lectures and workshops to share the skills needed to start and run a business. Thus, within the framework of SPB Startup Weekend, Maxim Ali advised the participants of the event on the distribution of intellectual property rights in the projects they develop, legal registration of various investment attraction schemes, regulatory risks and legal peculiarities of Internet aggregators, as well as interaction with consumers of the product.

SPB Startup Weekend was held in St Petersburg from 17 to 19 May and gathered over 50 participants, speakers and mentors. The winning project, which received the highest marks from representatives of investment funds and accelerators, was the service for marketing analysts of ABI Tools.
