According to the information from medical facilities and insurance companies the number of claims connected with traumas caused by ice-slick has recently increased in Saint-Petersburg. At the moment the amount of injured due to the road situation accounts for an average of 10% of all hospital admissions.

Dmitry Uryakin, Associate at Maxima Legal, told “Delovoy Peterburg” that if the trauma is caused by inappropriate road maintenance, the victim is entitled to claim compensation for moral and pecuniary damage from the court.

“The person responsible for compensation depends on where the injury was sustained. If the victim slipped on the porch of an apartment building or stepped on a ramp that was not treated in time with de-icing agent, the person responsible for compensation will be the person in charge of managing the apartment building, such as the management company,” the expert added.
