Head of the IP/IT Practice at Maxima Legal, Maxim Ali took part in a so-called ‘legal battle’ at the international festival, BUYBRAND Franchise Market.

“Unfortunately, the relationship between franchiser and franchisee does not always end happily. Frequently previous partners need to apply to court with sub-standard contracts prepared without the help of lawyers giving rise to disputes. In such cases it can be difficult to predict the outcome of a case, particularly if the other party is a strong opponent or the case is heard by a cautious judge. I hope that such demonstrations and discussing example situations persuade participants in the market that prevention is better than treatment, and to involve lawyers in decisions on the development of their franchises”, explained Maxim Ali.

A legal battle also took place in September 2017 at the BUYBRAND Franchise Market with Maxim’s involvement.
