Maxima Legal together with the BRLA has hosted an English law event in St Petersburg

On 17 May, Maxima Legal and the British Russian Law Association hosted an English law-focused event in the Four Seasons hotel in St Petersburg. The event was well-attended by Russian and international lawyers.

Maxim Ali from Maxima Legal gave a presentation on the pertinent issues to be considered when parties connected to Russia wish to enter into a contract using foreign law and particularly English law. Maxim’s presentation was followed by presentations from lawyers from Lidings, Withers and Enyo Law.

The event was organised to coincide with the International Legal Forum and in anticipation that the Forum would not feature English law prominently in its programme and provided a space for lawyers to discuss the current issues around the use of English law in Russia.
