Britain got that taste: Why Russians Will Be Chased in the Kingdom // Forbes Russia – June 2018

Robert Houchill, a solicitor and head of Maxima Legal’s immigration law department, highlighted the main provisions of the British Criminal Finances Act especially for Forbes.

As you know, in early February, the British authorities received new powers to control the purity of financial transactions, introducing into law enforcement practice the concept of Unexplained Wealth Orders (Unexplained Wealth Orders). The mechanism implies the possibility of freezing or confiscating assets of PEPs or suspects of crimes due to the questionable nature of the origin of assets worth more than £50,000. However, as Robert pointed out, there is a high probability that each property owner in the United Kingdom has assets in excess of this amount.

Note that the list of persons in respect of whom the mechanism of Unexplained Wealth Orders can be used, were mainly Russian citizens.
