QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE SUMMARY
With more than 20 years’ experience in private practice, Sergei is recognised as a specialist in the areas of insolvency, representing clients in court proceedings and dispute resolution. In addition, Sergei has extensive experience advising on a wide-range of matters in commercial and corporate law and M&A transactions.
EMPLOYMENT OVERVIEW
Prior to working at Maxima Legal, Sergei worked at a number of Russian law firms and for several years worked for a major consulting company heading its legal department.
SIGNIFICANT RECENT MATTERS
- Representing the interests of creditors in insolvency proceedings involving Nevsky Bereg, the owner of one of the largest malt plants in Russia, and a number of matters related to the proceedings
- Advised the Blago Group, a major Russian manufacturer of vegetable oils and margarine, in matters relating to the formation of a holding structure, restructuring and obtaining new financing
- Providing comprehensive legal support for the restructuring of the Russian subdivision of the international holding Mediterranean Shipping Company, a world leader in the field of container logistics
- Representing the interests of Otkrytiye Bank in an insolvency case of Phaeton-Aero, one of the largest fuel companies in St Petersburg and the Leningrad region, and in the insolvency cases of other companies in the Phaeton group
- Securing insurance payments from Rossiya Insurance Society in a court case for losses caused by a major fire in a logistical centre in St Petersburg
